Moonlight Melancholy

Nicole Ching

O moonlit night, such sombre dance

I feel your ghost touch near me;

Clouds shifting left, a halo's kiss

The storm simmers down within.

9 months have passed, you left us here;

No direction, manual; north star

Cumulous disperse, rainbows rendered

A glimmer you're there, not far.

How dyre the senselessness of all,

You decided our fate with one trigger.

I'll continue to miss you, my dear brother

As down here I'm forever "Nini" your sister.

  • Comment from author about the poem: Losing anyone to the claws of death is never easy; losing a loved one suddenly is tormenting and it clasps around your heart suffocating the ability to breathe. This speaks to my heartfelt struggle a year on from losing my youngest brother to mental illness. May we always love with listening ears and be there for those in need of our support.
