Choices

sorenbarrett

Once were two lands where all believed, whether true or be they deceived,

that they were right and all others wrong, in this, their belief was irrefutably strong

The first land did believe, everything was determined, as was preconcieved,

where everything was thought to happen for the best;

because of this there was no anger, blame, hate, guilt, or sadness

In the other land far away, were people that believed that they,

had free will, to choose, win or loose and do good or ill.

Here was anger, gilt and shame, wickedness, war, sadness and blame

If it were up to you, which would you choose of the two?

    Curley one, soren….
    While the first land seems irrefutably the way to go, this Brave New World would lack motivation, highs and lows a sense of adventure, and so on…
    Now your second world for all its faults is dynamic, interesting with aways the chance of redemption (no religious connotations).

    And anyway, we ain’t got the choice…

    Enjoyed the write.

      The old dilemma determinism vs free will. I agree with you Dave the option is not a perfect one but in a sense it is ours in that what we believe becomes our reality. Thanks so much for the review and wise comments

      What a marvelous question, and one that requires contemplation. If life were preconceived there would be no reason to question, doubt, explore, learn. It would be static and unfulfilling. I would definitely choose the land of fee will, with all the good and bad. For there would lie the element of possibilities and invention. Thank you, a great write!

        Thank you Bella, I think that we all like to believe that we have free will even though this carries with it a great deal of pain. Certainly this seems to be the popular view now days. Thank you again for your comments
