Monsters of the Heart

LM Mullins

What does one do with feelings

That are hidden deep inside

Like monsters that I dare not wake

I tip toe side to side

Unseen, unknown and safe from reach

They struggle to be free

One deep breath can hold them in

So no one else can see.

From where are they, who sent them here

And why attack my heart

This tug of war I can not stand

It tares my soul apart.

To look at me you’d likely say

No feelings I possess

But deep inside the monsters here

Have left my mind a mess.

thanks for sharing, a good read
I like the clarity in your words
on a subject that's so murky
and hard to ink without embellishments
    or overtly dramatic tonality
    'They struggle to be free
One deep breath can hold them in
So no one else can see.

From where are they, who sent them here
    And why attack my heart
This tug of war I can not stand'
