Spellbound

anashe.

Trapped in a hypnotic trance

In waves of azure and emerald green

We watched as the colours did their dance

In a sky full of stars that sparkled and gleamed

A sky that was unlit and in darkness

Like my heart, it yearned for a beam of light

The dead stars fell into an ocean of blackness

Where all my fears and anxieties came to life

Lost deep in the depths of my own nightmare

I drowned in the ocean and struggled to breathe

With my hope abandoned and no room for care

I would quietly rest in this desolate dream

With my last breath and the closing of my eyes

I felt a warmth cover me from head to toe

You came to me, bursting with bright lights

Embracing me in an enchanted glow

You were like my Northern Lights

My ray of sapphire and periwinkle

Through the dark you were by my side

The last living star that I saw shimmer and twinkle

You were my enthralling gem,

A slice of heaven that I had found

You were the flow and I was the stem…

Never to be picked from the ground

  • Comment from author about the poem: This is mainly about remembering a lost love, where I used to mainly focus on the bad, I wanted this to remind me of how I used to feel during the time we were together and how being with them felt like a true fantasy...
