Gold

robertstevens

I could have lived a lifetime

had my triumphs

envied those of others

wished for whatever

crashed and recovered

been a don Quixote

with my own windmills

loved and lost

and loved again

learned what I thought mattered

tried, tried

and tried again

and never had that moment

when leaning against me

then a little more

she allowed this grandparent

to feel again

just a little significant

to a 10 year old.
