I was laying on the kitchen table, hands over my head
Crying to my grandma "I'll never make a friend!
Kids are always cruel and they can be so mean
I'm tired of putting up with them making fun of me"
She gently pulled my hair and told me with a smile
"Why are you so worried? You've got so much time
This is only the begging and you are overpowered?
Come on, raise your head. I didn't raise a coward "
After that she looked away and giggled just a little
And then she spoke again while looking out the window
"You have a caring touch and a kind heart
It might take a while but people will see that
And those who do will stick around for quite some time
And you will share with them winters, summers and some wine
Jokes and memories and games and very long walks
And under starlit skys you will share long talks
I know you'll stand by them, so they will stand by you
Something tells me that, in time, you'll gather quite a few
I know you're bold, so i hope you won't all have reckless heads
But even if you do, i tell you, cherish those friends!"
It's been seven years since then, more or less
But grandma got it right, I've made amazing friends
Though when we pull all-nighters we tend to get too drunk
And surely, even in heaven, she's doing a "face palm"

beautiful!
'face-palming grandma's' looking over us
from the other side of that six feet divide
is a warming image, to contemplate..
🤦♀️😎
