Look At Me

Fay Slimm.

Look At Me.

I am known as Pansy-Viola
whose dimpled intrigue
hides variegated beguile.

I wear a mauve overcoat
of  plushest velvet, woven
to cope with northern weather.
I have a face of mixed yellows
merged with broad streaks
of purple-striped forehead

Cobalt drifts over my edges
with spots of underneath hue
and rings of frilly-kissed tresses
nestle in studded mosaic beauty
 as silvery-pale blushes invade
indigo to vein my petal-tattoo.

I hide my therapy until
it spills into the mind of one
intending to see.

View my dappled integrity.

Oh look at me, do.

    'I wear a mauve overcoat
    of plushest velvet, woven
    to cope with English weather.'
    that's just Nature's beauty
    distilled succinctly vivid
    in precision poetry
another memorable love letter, to Nature
    you've penned dear Fay
    thank you!

    • Fay Slimm.

How encouraging your statement that my wordings on Nature become almost a letter of love D.L - am delighted you liked my vision of what a pansy would say if it could make us understand its language. Thank you for commenting after your read my friend.

Why do botanical catalogues resort to such dry technical terminology when they could utilise your poetry instead, Fay?
And I haven't ignored the last five lines....

      • Fay Slimm.

Oh go on you wid ya Dave - -am flattered that you see my writing as more exciting that than of the experts from botanical backgrounds. many thanks my friend and should I at some future time want to plug my poetry to such people I shall want you to be my P.A,, - paid of course..

        • Doggerel Dave

I'm definitely primed for negotiation there, Fay.....

this one's a keeper for sure .. she looks just like the one pressed many many years ago between the pages of our family bible .. still retaining her mauve overcoat & yellow petticoats ........ Neville x

Oh it warms my heart Nev when the read reminds you of times long ago and a pansy that pressed is still full of colour . Am happy too you want to keep words that came recently while looking lots deeper at one little flower..............x

As I read I am caught up in a wonderful swirl of color, texture, such tangible imagery that it feels dreamlike. You indeed do justice to that beautiful flower pictured, more than justice, you immortalize it. Beautiful write dear Fay, and such a fav!
