Drowning in Darkness

Wrenn

There are two types of darkness - the comforting one and the terrifying one. Yet, if you spend enough time in the dark, you begin to confuse the two. Suddenly there are monsters in your world of peaceful silence. But, even though it is terrifying, you crave that darkness. Or maybe you don't have enough energy to fight it off anymore. Whatever it is, you go back to the darkness long enough for it to seep into other parts of your life until you become darkness yourself. No longer human, no longer able to care, no longer able to do anything but sink deeper. Soon, you are alone long enough for the monsters to convince you their your friends. They spin beautiful tales of numbness and control. You believe them for so long that eventually you become one with the darkness. Just a black hole of a human, void of everything that made you you.
