There is only two ways in which we should move
Adjust your longitude and latitude
Have the correct attitude
Be polite instead of rude
Upwards and forwards
Not backwards and below
I'm still trying to grow
Torment my own mind daily
I am my own penalty
Burn the candle
Increase heat with each degree
Wear my heart on my sleeve
All we gotta do is believe

Yes, similarly in a farewell sermon, a Vicar said: 'Onwards and upwards, not backwards and downwards'.
About 25 years go now it was.
Oh really, that is interesting.
Yes - and more, sadly. He got injured, age 23, and had to have a leg off 45 years later. Oh dear!
Oh no, that isn't good.
live like we reach-out to bring light
to our dark rooms, flick that switch
in our minds
aim forward, envisage that relief
hidden beyond those twists and dark clouds
and when we can, offer
a flashlight, to help light another's path
and on...
one humane choice after another
we each prevail
by empowering each other!
love the positivity dear poet
Thanks for your comment and great rhymes.
How I wish I could change the narrative and stop tormenting my own heart and just live life
We'll all get there.
