I See Green

E Naughton

I see Green

I see trees,

Green, brown branches,

Blowing in the wind,

Bringing me from my mind,

As if asking me, to share in this moment,

To see them, as they are.

Gazing back at me,

Wondering, who I am?

Green hands, waving gently,

Followed by soft rains.

The sound of my breath,

Clearly distinct, from one life to another,

Rustling leaves, talk to me,

As though, I understand.

We are as one.

Our shared plateau of separate souls,

will merge once more,

As sure as the sun rises in the morning.

 One day,

Maybe someone will

see my leaves waving,

As I gaze into the distance,

Rustling leaves,

Whispering,

As I wonder where I end,

And where they begin.

We had child in our daughter's playgroup once that needed corrective lenses... as we drove through wooded roads this child would call out the greenish blur that we call trees and after the glasses were prescribed retorted, they now "look like people waving at me!" To see beauty and connection is a real gift and one we should not disavow. TFS.

To see all life and breath it in so deep, to feel connected. That's beautiful a child seeing nature for the first time

Being part Irish, this has special meaning!

Thank you! A meaning of connectivity I guess (-:

Yes. But a little more than that. Maybe not a longing but more of a yearning to be seen and understood.
