I'm back

Michael William Reid

One step then two and before you know

You're rushing headlong where you shouldn't go

The deeper you go the faster you sink

The less of you is going to think

I was fighting, I was down

I was darkness like I've never known

Crawling up a muddy slope

But sliding down bereft of hope

It was from the bottom I could see

And what was once hidden was clear

All the strength and hope I had left in me

Had chased away my fear

The words are just not in me

To ever say I quit

It's not about what life gives

Just what you do with it

So I turned back to that slippery slope

And I slowly clawed my way free

I had found myself, I had found my hope

And I stood tall at the top for me

Now I'm back with the power to perceive

Who I am and what that means

To see my goals and to believe

And never forget my dreams
