Not Enough Sky For You

Nicole Ching

Little star, once so bold and bright,

You've come abroad to shine, to show.

It can be bitterly cold,

From places to people and perception.

It just needs time to chizzle away,

The jaggerdness of all that is new.

Twinkle, glitter let me shine,

Don't feel stiffened by rejection.

Pluck me from the oblivion

And let me showcase in the milky way

  • Comment from author about the poem: Starting fresh in a new place is never easy and there are many shut doors ahead of one opening. This speaks to the challenges in finding work, making friends, settling in and becoming.

The thought provoked of starting up afresh (something I've done a few times in my life) somewhere new is still a little heavy. Your shortie covers it well.
