Tune: Dambusters March
('God is our strength and refuge')
Psalm 18 v.16-24 and v.28
*********
The Lord sent help from above
To me, saved me in His love
I was as in waters deep
He did me safe keep
Save me from strong enemy
They hated me, too strong be
For me, but He supported me constantly
The Lord was my stay, helped me
Brought me to large place, so be
Saved me, for He did delight
In me, my path bright
The Lord He did me reward
Righteous I was Him toward
He rescued me through toil, strife, and battle's sword
For I have kept the Lord's ways
Not led by evil astray
From my God, not departed
But firm, whole-hearted
have I pressed on to Him know
His judgement to learn and show
Retaining His statutes I did onward go
Therefore the Lord recompensed
Me, His presence I have sensed
Blessed me, for He me upright
Saw me in His sight
The Lord will light my candle
My lamp, I shall not here fall
The Lord God will enlighten my darkness all

- Comment from author about the poem: A hymn-poem in 7.7.7.5. 7.7.11. format. The last two lines of each verse in the video are one single line in the poem. Combining a Remembrance theme with King David's battle times in days of old. Spot the extra syllable in the video in verse 4 - it sneaked in!

A 'new' hymn in the video - phew! Well, 1973. That's new-ish for me!
As we Remember, we call to mind how we need above all else divine aid.
Thanks Mr Orchilenge, erm, CB.
A fine read as a reminder dear Orchi.
Thanks Fay.
