Intimation

Eugene S.

I hear the waves as they caress the shore
On a quiet eve after the storm

I see a bird perched on one leg, watching
Wary of his companion

I feel a detachment from the scenery
As if I were somehow separate

I know that dark times are ahead of me
As clouds billow in the distance

    (Nature forewarns, ever so subtly
    were we anchored enough, in-self
to heed her whispering gust of wind
still, as we watch flocks in flight
    and en masse
our archaic amygdala, awakens and begins its work...)
such a wonderfully measured tone and wording, dear Poet
    a lovely read
    almost a statuesque postcard scene
    in a horror thriller
    like the beginning of Jaws
