Counting Sheep

Classicmister

As I lie awaiting sleep

Forsaking tries at counting sheep

Past recollections spill and heap

Pondering on a life thus run

Its journey’s battles lost and won

And all the things I might have done

How has life turned out for me?

What could have been my destiny?

Now I have reached longevity

Now life’s realities are  unveiled

Have I prospered, have I failed?

Are Youth’s ambitions now derailed?

If only I could turn back time

Changing course when in my prime

Not fearing then to break the line

But facets of my life are good

So I’ll reject all thoughts of should

And  relish  remaining adulthood

Time now to fall asleep and dream

But not of the things that might have been

When as a boy of seventeen

    Good write C.
I tried counting sheep to get to sleep, then a goat came along and woke me up. Wassat? (what's that) I said, and it startled me to awake! lol.
Please excuse me talking rubbish sometimes!

Hi Orchidee ... I take it you were sleeping in the great outdoors?
      Go well
