They say the morning after is the worst
They say the light is too bright,
The sound and voices are too loud
The headache leaves them restless but unable to move
The stomachache leaves you glued to the floor of their bathroom
The ratchet smell of last night’s dinner and sweat burn their nostrils
But still, they do it again
And again
And again
They never have enough
Just one more drink they say
Its a fun night with friends
Never again they say
They say it’s an addiction to the buzz
The high
The drinking
I never understood that
Until I realized a person can be my cheap alcohol
A person can make lights too bright
A person can make sounds and noises too loud
A person can leave me with headaches that leave me restless and unable to move
A person can leave me with stomach aches that leave me glued to the floor of my bathroom
A person can smell of last nights dinner and sweat that burn my nostril
And I would still find myself in their arms again
And again
And again
I know I will never have enough
This is the last time I tell my friends
Never again I say
I know I’m addicted to their touch
To the feelings
To the pain
I understood now
