Walls

ryebread

I hear your sobs through the walls

They aren't thin but you anguish is just so palpable

I'm pretending I can't hear

My music is cranked up by each needed degree

I would help if I knew how

How can I help you if I can't help myself

My eyes are dry but I feel the anguish just the same

Some pair we are

Separated by these walls
