Olivetti Moments

Neville

Olivetti Moments

While doing nothing

in particular ..

It suddenly dawned on me

we may never get rich

while I try to write poetry ..

But no doubt

in time though,

the parallels between us

will become more apparent

to those who

dare visit, the few words

I did write here ..

And since most of them now

seem to hang out on Hydra ..

Whereas we

make out daily on the beaches

and the balconies

of cheap Algarve hotels ..

Where it seems on occasion

that miracles’

do still happen ..

Since without fail, when I close

my eyes lightly ..

Through the flicker and blue

and sun warmed terracotta ..

I can still see you clearly

almost wrapped

in a white towel, but loosely ..

Just sitting in front

of my old Olivetti ..

Loading black and white film

into the back of

a borrowed Box Brownie ..

Seemingly intent on

capturing such moments as these ..

Had the privilege of using the Olivetti twice, once on a heavy monster of a machine and the other on a portable lightweight typewriter - both in AZERTY! I lugged one around on a boat and a hut and an island for several years. Hopping poetry while hopping islands.

Paint has never dried more clearly than on this poignant canvas of Box Brownie memories mon dear ami and it takes a real poet to resurrect past moments of loved Olivetti times. A sure fave for my list is this poetic masterpiece......x

Come on Nev - you coulda at least hired a row boat and said "hello" to them. I Appreciate hydra woz and still is a fair distance, but that woulda been an experience in poetical/musical memory for you....
The Algarve Sounds great - even if it was a moment in time.....

I am having trouble raising an eyebrow these days so raising an oar would be nigh on impossible but I know what you mean 🙂

              • Doggerel Dave

Nah - not now, Nev. That would mean rowing back through time as well as the actual trip (imagine passing Gibraltar that symbol of when Britain ruled the waves.......)

I havea cue for a poem in the genre 'Horror'. 'Neighbours' is going to return to television. What could be worse? Aren't we in enough troubles?
But - why do people add to their own agonies and tortures by watching it?! lol.

Garn orchi - you have this obsessive love of orstralia that you try to hide....

                  • orchidee

'Neighbours' I loves it really! You can keep it there. lol. Well, we have 'Eastenders' in UK, just as bad. There's 'Bouncer' from Neighbours in your pic!

                    • Neville

I don't have any neighbours and I can assure you Mr. O .. if I did, I most certainly wouldn't' be watching them .. wot on earth are you suggesting .............. 🙂

                      (we accumulate scenic mementos
like you've worded here, so poetic
so we may traverse those winter's
and make our way to those Spring
                      highlights moments of our lives...)
brilliant imagery! what a great read Hyung
                      thank you

                      • Neville
