                     My Mom Is Gone

My Mom Consuelo was a great person and I couldn't ask for more,
She passed away on February 1st a little after 4.

She fought this last illness to the very end,
Even now, I don’t see it as a loss but it’s a win.

She is now in Heaven and feels pain no more,
Now she is able to do jigsaw puzzles with Our Lord.

While here with us she taught us so very much,
Massaging my physical injuries with a magical and tender touch.

She worked hard to put food on the dinner table,
Not once did she complain or was she not able.

It was her choice to never learn how to drive a car,
Walking to the store and bringing groceries home was never too hard.

When I was young she would wait up for me to come home,
She taught me while she was around, I was never alone.

Now when I feel lonely or the loss feels unbearable,
I can always grab my phone and play a voicemail.

My mom was trustworthy, genuine and unique,
She was quick witted and always ready to speak.

She was faithful to God and He was there for her,
I remember reading to her from the Bible and giving her Gods words.

When her children were in trouble she prayed and prayed,
I believe she prayed every single day.

Even in her wheelchair she was a regular at church,
She knew there was life after life here on Earth.

My mom taught me so many things,
Of all the people i have met, she is the best human being.

Yet the most important thing she ever taught me,
Was to always have faith and to BELIEVE.

Not only to rely on me, myself and I,
But to look to God Almighty who made the Sun, the Moon and the sky.

Only He can bring us comfort in these hard times,
Mom, I miss you already, but i will see again when I die.

Right this very moment I know she is smiling,
Even from up above, it is my mom who is doing the guiding.

Her last wish would be this, before she went away,
Friends and family together in the same room on her very last days.

This is very deep in a therapeutic way I feel. I could be wrong. The love between a mother and son never fades, the bond never gets distant nomatter how far apart. For your first poem published its an amazing one. Congratulations. Keep going.

Thank you. I just seen your message. I appreciate your time. Yea. There were times when we didn’t get along but I’m glad that towards the end of her life, we had some great times together 😇 I’ll cherish those
