A girl's journey through the night

_lonely__side

Indeed, today was so full of surprises

I saw something that appeared to be a disguise

A lovely and happy girl caught my eye

Walking forth with her head held high

As she made her way through the night

She was humming and lost in thoughts

In lovely reminiscences of her past

But suddenly from somewhere a breeze felt free

And shook her with a bitter and cold spree

Reminding her of all the horrors a young woman could have to see

She found herself alone at night

Though she is a powerful woman she feels weakened despite

She remembered that for girls nights are ghastly unsafe

If she roams around like that what a ruckus she is bound make

She re-evaluates the choice she made, the choice to come out that day so late

She moved, but suddenly a hand clutched her tight

It pressed on her shoulder and gave her a huge fright

She thought Oh! I am ruined why didn't I see

Why didn't I pay attention and act appropriately?

Now this reckless decision of mine will haunt me eternally

But as she fought on and opened her eyes to see

She saw a lady standing there with a bright smile full of glee

She held the girl fondly and urged her to calmly breathe

look my darling she said  "how welcoming the road ahead is"

Showing her that she has her rights, to be whoever she wants to be

The girl was awestruck by what she saw

how her world did change but not as she thought

She saw the beauty of strength and unwavering support

and realized the difference even a single soul can make

she said It out loud "this night turned out to be great! "

The day touched her and passed, but it changed her forever

She tirelessly kept encouraging young women to stand up for each other

To young boys and girls, she repeatedly told

how beautiful an image is displayed

when all demons are crushed with freedom's sword
