I once Wished

Roohi

I once wished for the finest things in the world

I saw girls playing with Barbie’s in the park

I utter to mom I want one

She saw me with tears in her eyes

How could she say no to her little butterfly

With no money in her purse

Yet she promised her a doll house

I knew from here face

I knew it was poverty’s worst curse

Then I stopped hoping for pointless desires

I realized that my wishes made her heart tired

I stopped wishing for finest things in the world

All I wished for, was her happiness in life

All I ever needed was Mom to survive
