I know a young man,
Who listens to music.
But, won't learn the words,
"A lyric, no use for it."
He only cares to hear,
The melody and the beat.
I say, "You're missing out.
The poetry's a treat!"
The artists are so gifted,
Putting music to their words.
Some are just so creative.
Others, the worst you've heard.
But, I'll always have respect,
For the writer's message.
For whatever's on their minds,
As they state their rite of passage.
So, I hope he'll change his mind,
Hear the words as they unfold.
How they fit well with the music,
And, the story being told.

- Comment from author about the poem: I know this person who does not care about the lyrics, just the music. That is OK for him, but I have to have the story behind the song! How about you?

Message (if any) is the most important part of the whole enterprise. If the message does not suit, don't subscribe.
And indeed the same goes for poetry. The words might be well organised, the rhythm spot on, but if there's nothing of import being communicated, Why bother?
You have communicated plenty with this piece, - Thanks.
Thank you DD and I agree so very much with your thoughts. And, thank you, again for your kind words!
