You can beat an egg, a drum and a xylophone .. but you just can't beat a good old Steinway .. especially if it's grannies ................... Neville 🙂
That special piano could if it talked tell some awful tales Rik - your Gran must have gone through some terrible times watching it and the manor so grossly abused - - - - this telling lament is now in my favourites.
Thanks Fay. My Nan would have been touched by this gesture. Yes, that loss brought the family to tough decisions and through rough times. It has become part of us in more ways as its value liquidated became a means to open the future's door of my mum and aunts and eventually helped in starting their own families, a shared heritage between cousins rather than a physical heirloom that we could touch and dust and maintain. Quite so! Thanks N.
I never known anyone beat a piano! lol.
Nan’s Steinway was bayoneted and butted but later restored then sold to get mum and sisters (aunt) through school post 1945 liberation.
There's a history there and I wouldn't mind if more detail.....
Thanks Dave, the exchanges in Orchi and Faye's comment should fill in more of the details.
