My Lady of the Tear

James Stinson

A single tear slipped from her eye on to a pallid cheek to rest

Then trickled slowly to her chin

To gently fall on to her breast

A moment on the nipple then by gravity it fell again

And on her belly it did lie

Before it eased towards her thigh

Along that milky limb it ran

Towards her knee and on and on

It reached her ankle then her toe

There was but one more place to go

And so it rested on the ground

A captive tear

At last

Unbound

In to the dust it nearly died

Like all the tears my Lady cried

The little tear did seep below

At last it found a tiny seed

And gave itself

Unselfishly

Another life had now been freed

The little seed did fight and toil

It pushed and pushed with all its might

To find the air

That it did crave

And bask itself in radiant light

The little seed became a stem

Growing stronger by the hour

Until that day

In glorious sun

The stem produced a flower

Each petal opened

One by one

To welcome in the heat

Such beauty

Standing tall and straight

How glorious how sweet

I hear you ask

But what of she

My Lady of the tear

Did she succumb to heartbreak's touch

Surrender to her fear

My Lady

Like our little seed

Took time to find her fight

Yet day by day she carried on

A spirit seeking light

One morning

As she walked outside

It was early in the hour

She rested

And she sat beside

Our friend the little flower

She leaned to breathe the sweet , sweet scent

It was then she came to see

That one day

She will bloom again

Her heart

At last

Was free.
