Baby Girl

Astrid Garcia

Beautiful baby girl, they brought you forth from the womb

Beautiful baby girl, they cooed to quell your cries

Obedient little girl, they took your voice

Obedient little girl, they formed you to their mold

Conflicted adolescent woman, they took your body

Conflicted adolescent woman, they taught you how to die alive

Wounded teenage woman, they left you out to dry

Wounded teenage woman, they relished in your silence

Angry woman, you stole back your vocal, curved form

Angry woman, you cried silent tears to drown the noise

Tired woman, you held your tongue of razors

Tired woman, your silence saved you
