misconception

emily madden

For so long i've tried to hide
the parts of me that I don't like
in messed up hair
and baggy clothes,
I covered up
all my flaws
but lately I've come to realize,
that there's more to me than what's perceived
sometimes starry eyes can be deceived
a misconception,
no matter how hard it tries
  will always be mindless
misinterpreting and labelling
as if someone can change
  just for you
as if people were malleable,
and can be transformed
to you,
a misfit may seem lonely,
but you never know what's going on inside their head
you can seethe all you like,
and throw your worst colors at them,
but still they will rebel.
