Andrea

By Sean Leon Reser

When my daughter

Andrea was born

I was a father for the first time

I was the first to hold her

When the nurse brought her out.

When she was born

She lets out a shout

I knew she was happy

Not wanting to go back.

I watched through a window

As they wrapped her up.

Standing at the door

The nurse brought her out

And she said “Here you go”

Bringing her close

She opened her eyes

Staring into mine

She smiled

Then I knew

She loved her daddy
