What an Appetite for Attention She Had
The pain I feel today
and every day
for that matter ..
Is I fear, absolutely
necessary
to at least remind me
I am alive
while you are gone ..
Yet still,
I wonder if you ever
count the days,
like I count the days ..
And for
the same reasons I do ..
I very much
doubt that you do ..
But of course
you would say you
did though ..
Now having said that,
your lies
rarely had substance ..
You simply
told them because
you had
nothing better to do
at the time ..
When your appetite
for attention
then knew no bounds ..

Yep, is this the same gal as yesterday, who ran off to me?! lol.
Like I said yesterday, or at least hinted at .. She tried to run over you 🙂
The read of your poetic posting today hits a valuable truth my friend. - - Realizing the desperate need for attention in another and giving it willingly heals in measures we know little about and is a sign of true understanding in any relationship. The depth your expertise reaches in this verse Nev is outstanding and the piece is now in my list of favourites ........x
My goodness my dear lady .. I am truly honoured .. thanking you seems to have been adopted by me as some kind of latent reflex .. x
I meant every word of my comment Nev cos I can relate so deeply to each line of this poem and between lines too................. x
Pain and lies and counting plus the sense and lack thereof... a merry heady cocktail that makes life worth living.
nothing cryptic about that, is there you old bard 🙂
nah, sometimes it comes out like it is mate!
Wow.. it's like you just plucked Real moments in my life for me to see, I'd never be afraid to admit but one would have to asked...
This honestly was fantastic and some what ( for me) an idea of the in depth life you have lived to write the way you do.
Thanks for sharing
Much peace and respect
Your words .. these words you shared with me today Dan mean a lot to me too my friend and I thank you for them unreservedly .. Neville
to be a shadow
within
a relationship
is a curse
I wouldn't wish upon my worst...
but wise Poet
those perpetuated
societal mechanism's that cultivate
such personas, truly amaze me
like how
as a child, everyone gravitates
for the cute kid
pinches cheeks, worshiping those gifted
smiling gurgles
and that kid grows-up thinking
this is reality, for everyone
forever and ever, daily
then comes the drop-off
now that child is left to swim alone
compensate for that missing attention
and here comes adulthoods trappings
and now hollywood is the mecca
for the good looking
with fck'd up childhoods...
(still
the shattered hearts they leave in their wake
is neither forgivable or comprehensible;
my survival's avoidance trick
after burning me fingers on aesthetics
is to seek empathy in the eyes
of the one i dare
to entrust with my fragile heart
above intellect or anything else...)
sorry for ranting again, a great write dear Poet
so relatable
You just can't beat a bloomin good rant .. get it orf ya chest Mek 🙂
