Stardom

Moonsight

I saw a sea star who wound up dried up and dead on the seashore

I wondered how he'd gotten there, for he had swam quite far

When he saw the shimmering night sky above, he swore

That he'd become a star

  • Comment from author about the poem: This underlying meaning of the poem is about how people wish to attain stardom and be famous as they see all their favorite stars and the ideals they present but fail to realize consequences of becoming a star, such as the pressure, the drugs, the hate, the exploitation, etc. and many of us fail to recognize these issues that are present in our idols behind the scenes, we only realize this as they appear dried and dead, on the shore, we care not to examine past the surface of the water.
