Dear Addiction

Luv2laff107

Dear Addiction,
You snuck yourself in,
and made your grip deep,
Was i not looking?
Was I fast asleep?
Isolated and alone
there is no path
To escape from you
To withstand your wrath.
Dear Addiction,
You took your hold,
You burrowed in,
You hide like mold.
You lie, you steal,
You perfectly pretend,
You say to me,
Oh sure, absolutely, yes,
Of course, I'm your friend.
Those people and life
are not safe you see,
The only comfort you have
Is here with me.
I know you are lying,
From my head, to my toe,
Yet somehow still
I will not let you go.
I have been told,
there is only one way,
It's with those groups
that end with an “A”.
Though this may be true,
I continue to resist,
I cant explain why,
I let you persist.
Food, drugs, drink you say
Pick your pleasure, stay stuck today.
Nah it's not gonna happen
just for now,
I'll keep it in the moment,
reach out some how.
Off to a meeting, to go is a must,
To find Recovery,
I must begin to trust.
Dear Addiction,
Your hold can be beat,
I'll go to a meeting,
and take a seat.
