Dare to Dream

Simply Marie

How she was trained to be to serve another's need

Don't think about herself although she wanted to succeed

Teacher says she has potential parents laugh amongst themselves

Just because she gets good grades doesnt really mean she's smart

No college planned for her not allowed to dream of such a thing

Continue doing laundry and dishes too don't forget the vacuuming

If the house becomes a mess she better clean it quick

Daddy's got a belt for her siblings blame a favorite trick

Surrounded by thier anger best not to set them off

Sometimes it's unavoidable a target for thier wrath

Spend her life to try to please them until she finds a way to leave

Another copy of her family all rolled up into him

It all ends before beginning it's based upon a lie

Another decade later another marriage going wrong

Stay in therapy for years to get it figured out

Reparenting herself to learn how she deserves the best

Remember way back when silly thoughts she entertained

How she always loved to learn before they took it all away

Leave that family all behind best thing she ever did

No more shrinking violet now she holds her head up high

Still she's shy in person until you show her who you are

Painfully sensitive at times a thing she tries to hide

And now shes found a simple life it's safe to be alone

Really it's not what she wants its only what she knows

But then at times she wonders if she really dared to dream

If Cinderella found Prince Charming could she not do the same
