Broken

Joakim Bergen

I fashion out of love

Petty hate and anger pure.

I bathe in lavender.

I smell of Spring.

Yet my heart freezes o’er

And bleeds crystal tears.

I seek starlight,

But the tar of night extinguished them.

I seek guidelines,

But I am blind, stumbling in cold sweat:

I seek wisdom, I seek perpetual joy;

It leaves me yearning, scouring,

Screaming, dreaming, swimming

In the deluge of my own making.

I deceive with words of gold,

Storing away my tattered uniform;

Long past are the lovers’ wars,

Yet this passion-turned emptiness is

Like a cold sword stuck in my heart.

I know pain will ease, when this life of mine

Drifts away, on the wings of dreams!

    Comfort is a cream to smooth away your pains and set in your walk way a light of songs that will show forth all your efforts in the garden of Joy.
