What Burns

Tayama

Angels came that look like fire…

What is it that I should have saw?

Backs turned as they walk away…

Why is it that they burn?

What’s familiar will often come in the darkest of places…

Did I not deserve to know?

Can she be that cruel?

I know I’ll never know…

For now, the dawn is coming…

As the night releases my yearning…

I’m still alone in her bed once so white…

Gasping as eyes open to the light…

A heart pierced by its being bare…Will I survive the day?

And wait again for a dream so real…

For that’s all there is left as I decay…

Will tonight I burn with them?

If they turn my way, I’ll learn…

Her love was pain…and can only exist devoid of this mortal plane.
