I am who

The Evil Twin

In my quest for self discovery

I realised the problem plain to see

Anxiety, timidity and ignorance

Bravado,pride and arrogance

All gain my innocuous disdain.

My desire for acceptance

Left me baffled on the importance

Of self love and self worth.

The vast possibilities that would be

Who I was, who I am, who I could be.

The doubt, confusion and fears

Have led me here.

I may not be perfect

But these attributes identify me.

I dare not change me

For I am different

I love different, and I love me.

I appreciate this poem, sometimes I come across a poem that keeps me re-reading it, this is one of them. I relate to this poem very much. I Love when a poem speaks to me, like the author knows me personally.
Thank you for being who you are.

To me, there doesn't have to be sadness in being an outsider. Life can still be amazing even though you don't necessarily fit in. I believe it's better not to fit in, then it is to fit in. We can be our definition of beautiful and worthwhile, while still realizing we have someone to make us happy. Matter of fact, that person could even be ourselves.
