In the Hood

Simply Marie

When shots rang out in this neighborhood the night that she moved in

She thought about her life now my god just where did this begin

After various incidents when she made her mind up to be clear

Finally informed the landlord afterall she plans to stay a year

The smile received when her plans revealed surprised them just a bit

Not expecting much reaction for her really nothing to this

When some wont understand the way she feels about this place

A neighborhood she grows to love gratitude you just cannot replace

Not wanting to explain she bites her tongue another time

He hasn't bothered her since she moved in here tends to ease her mind

And now hes afraid of this place a fear he just can't hide

The way the tables now are turning he runs to try to stay alive

His superficial armor seems to have so many holes

Hers is strong and genuine more than he could ever know

Who does she know from her past connected to this house

Another mystery that he can't solve he doesn't stand a chance

A heavy breath and relief of sigh her gratitude remains

No longer afraid of where to run since she's staying at this place

It will work for what she needs until she's feeling good and ready

To make a stand against his game her nerves remaining strong and steady
