Father

Joakim Bergen

Heavenly spheres

Obey a tune mysterious,

That many hear,

Yet few listen to.

'Tis a tune of life,

A most joyous song,

That, from Heaven flowing

Gladdens all mortal affairs.

So let us sing...

'Round Time's pinion revolving,

Love fasters in the cosmic bosom,

Bursting forth from ev'ry quasar;

'Tis Love that posits all creation

'Fore Father's weary visage,

And swirls in glitter-storm upward,

Towards the spire of Heaven's Lord!

Lo, ye men of sin and toil

Father stands 'fore your eyes;

He, that nobel truth possesses,

The destroyer of the brood of lies!

He shall mete by measure strict;

To each he weighs ev'ry sin,

Yet for whole mankind base

His heart aches, tears on his face.

All mortal emotion hushes

As He extends His arms;

Love from Heart gushes

Drowns the night and its stars;

Dawn breaks victorious

And joins ev'ry part that, estranged,

Wandered in the voidborn dark.

No more darkness!

Send 'round the cup o' wine!

Drunk with nectar Heavenly,

Father, to you we come!
