it’s
not
a
sin
to
be
sad.
we feed
ourselves this lie
that christian’s aren’t sad
that we don’t get depression
or struggle with anxiety.
maybe your pastor said it
and maybe your mother fed it
and maybe your father corrected it
but bandaids
don’t fix bullet holes.
gaslighted all your life
like sand in the eyes
you became blind.
your sadness turned to madness
as you faded into the blackness
of a self suffocating relationship.
isn’t it funny
how we convince ourselves
that we loathe our appearance
or our mental capacity?
and so you try to hide it.
maybe you’re a bully
or a pacifist
or an antagonist
or a politician
or a factivist
but really you’re an actor.
it’s
not
a
sin
to
be
sad.
maybe your pastor said it
and maybe your mother fed it
and maybe your father corrected it
but bleach doesn’t come off canvas.
