On bended knee, I honor thee.
For when I walked, you walked with me.
You've stood beside me, and held me up,
Supported me and filled my cup.
And when I fell, you helped me rise,
Never failing me, you heard my cries.
And now as an old man today,
I want you to know my love, I shan't betray.
And while my days are numbered, I do want more.
For this my love, I know the score.
I owe you much more than you'll ever know.
But I also know I need to let you go.
My heart is broken but my mind is healing.
A hope that time will bring a love revealing.
As I get on my way to let you be,
I want you to know, I honor thee.

- Comment from author about the poem: Part of my healing. Finding my way forward from a life where I have felt unheard, unseen, unvalued, unloved. And with that I brought dysfunction to my life with my wife and my children. And worst of all, lost the relationship with my wife, my very best friend.
