when you grow older

user_382197751

everything is unfamiliar

and lonely

you reminisce on what seems like your golden past

when you were younger

and carefree

look back at the smiling faces

in the rearview mirror

the people you loved so

you wonder if you can go back;

throw what you have out the window

the grey cityscape

the strange people

this empty feeling of longing

play your old songs

shut out the world and just sit

in the basketball court

after school on Friday

live day by day

watching sunsets on a skateboard

sweet purple bubbles on your tongue

but it wouldn’t be the same anymore

you don’t have what you used to

and you don’t have anything here yet

so you have nothing

going back feels like the right thing

and a failure, a step backwards

at the same time

Feels little sad living in the past, I wonder if you could show someone young how to live a happy life today as so many are missing what you have lived while they long for a future not yet seen.

yeah 🙂 it’s not necessarily only about my experience, but it’s really sad how some people can go so many years without properly living

so relatable, an age arrives in our lives when we reflect
      more than we look forward
      thanks for sharing
(do remember this is your poetic journey
write your own truth, not what others 'demand' of you
let them write, 'if' they can
      what they want to read
      you just do you)
