Who Decides? Who Deserves?

E Naughton

Does a flower deserve?

Does a flower deserve the sun?

More than the grass, or weeds unwanted,

After all a flower did not decide to be beautiful.

It's pretty head so proud and tall.

Does grass deserve water?

Keeping cover so meadows,

Can indeed be meadows,

Stepped over, even on

repeatedly,

To get to those who are bright with colour,

Would colour be so pure

Void of such sacrifice.

Does a simple backdrop deserve to go unseen,

Not deserve admiration for simplicity,

Beautiful flowers admired for nothing more than

 growing as nature intended,

Forgotten gratitude,

The gentle grass's swaying quietly

at their feet.
