My reasoning gets the best of me, I wish I could be more like you
It always seems I’m at a loss; but, my heart’s been always true
I lack the thing I’m thinking of; my common sense deceives me
It seems I’ve seen this all before; the damage, I see clearly
I never felt that I fit in, but that can’t be your fault
It’s funny I cannot escape, the consequence I brought
It hurts to watch you look at me, with the restrain that fills your eyes
If my heart could hear your clouded thoughts, I think it’d fill with cries
I could see your struggle crystal clear, from the battles you fight within
To disguise resentment must be hard, you just can’t seem to win
It pains me to have been the cause, of what you feel and hide
Your golden heart I’ve broken; and, what’s left you keep inside
I never meant to hurt you, just to help you understand
I thought it’d get the point across; I’ve crawled, I’ve walked, I ran
I don’t know what the future holds, and it scares me to go away
But after what has happened now, I refuse to make you stay
I wish I could erase our memories , to clear and ease your mind
You’ll have to keep your heart from me, and leave the past behind
You, will be happy and filled with love; if, you do what you do best
Just be yourself; a perfect man, and leave the past to rest
