This Moment in Time

InvisibleMan

But for this moment, there is nothing, the past and the future not here,

And as I steal this moment from you, I want you to focus on this moment without fear.

And now, with another moment stolen, what good of this could possibly come,

Is there a chance of enlightenment, or are you to walk away with your mind feeling numb?

If you think to read on, I hasten you to stop, as there goes but another moment in time,

Like a thief in the night, I have robbed you, I think nothing of you, and I think this is all fine.

But wait, please don't leave me quite yet, as I encourage you to keep reading on,

For I will soon share some words of my wisdom, that were shared with me in a beautiful song.

I have been lost in a world of hurt, of disenchantment, of self-hatred and rage,

Time that I have lost forever, living trapped in my mind, my own cage.

But moments were shared, with someone that cared, they shared with me their love and their kindness,

I finally opened my heart, and I opened my mind, and I found that life was not timeless.

Our lives are but a continuum of moments, and I will still feel sorrow or sadness,

But if I go back to my start, and reset my heart, I can avoid those moments of madness.

It is kindness, love and compassion, that can forever to help heal our minds,

And in this world of ours, we all need to pause, in our quests just to feel fine.

And now, for all of this time I have stolen, I ask but one thing from you,

Take a moment to pause and share kindness, and you too can feel renewed.

----------------------

Today, we live in troubled, perilous times.

And yet kindness is there for all of us to practice, and it really can help to change the world.

Please practice kindness today. Reach out and check-in on your friends and family members. Share some love and compassion, even with a stranger on the street. You can make a difference in someone's life today.

  • Comment from author about the poem: I will never be perfect but I can always be better. I am a continuing work in progress, a person with a troubled mind for much of my life. In the time that I have been taking to heal, I have learned a great deal about myself. With the help of therapy, mediation, journalling, practicing gratitude and kindness...there really is a way forward.
