Nothing Like the Presence

Mariamariaaa

A past that makes me want to go
A future that seems unclear
A present that gets overlooked
Cause of my thoughts and fears

A past I wish I could forget
Cause of what it taught me
A future I anticipate
A present that ends badly

A past I dwell on everyday
A future I can’t find
A present that won’t stop for me
The time I leave behind

A past that scarred me terribly
A future unforeseen
A present that I’m blind to
That passes like a dream

A past that I cannot ignore
A future that’s unplanned
A present that slips away from me
I wish I’d understand

A past that kills me deep inside
Because of lessons learned
A future I am thinking of
A present that I’ve earned

A past that I wish I could change
A future that I can’t grasp
A present that I can’t escape
A wish I’ll never clasp

A past that I keep losing to
A future I’ve seen before
A present that I recognize
Time wasted forever more

A past that’s immortal
A future that is near
A present of acceptance
And loss of all that’s dear
