Forever

The promises you made, leave me lying awake, 

The nights feel cold without your warm embrace, 

The words you said running wild in my head, 

For hours on end, you’re all I think about 

I’ve never felt anything quite like it, 

 

Your words send shock waves down my spine and make me feel at ease, 

In a world of disappointment, you make me feel hopeful and free, 

Under the stars you promised me the moon and sun, 

 

At last, now I'm here without you by my side, 

The cold surrounds me and swallows me whole, 

My heart now empty with forgotten memories,  

For where did I go wrong my love? 

 

Swallowed by the world without an end in sight, 

The broken promises you made leave cuts all over, 

How long before it all scabs over? 

 

Why’d you say forever when you meant never, 

You said forever, but now I see it so clearly that forever meant never.
