Sometimes
I look upon flickering branches and leaves
Imagining
All the unnoticed life being lived by our side
Just like those fidgetingly, stuttering
Curtains
Enshrining, all those silent
Screams
That none of us choose, to
Notice
Remaining as a blatant, but knowingly
Sidestepped
Part of our everyday, unspoken
Till
The sirens arrive, to shove
Awareness
In our obstinately festive, faces

I love this topic very much. It only takes a deep breath to step outside our comfort zones and say "are you okay?". Faved
indeed, so very true
thank you! kind Poet
Your words L.B. on those screams often unheeded is read with a heart full of shame that even in this special season with its message of giving our species can so easily side-step from aiding those most in need. This piece belongs in my favourites.
'a heart full of shame'
testimony to your empathetic nature, dear Fay
but it's truly all of us, collectively
hopefully we can all evolve, to recapture
that same 'community accountability'
that allowed civility to become a core anchor
to humanity's societal evolution..
thank you! kind friend
for all the encouraging and supportive words
you've gifted me this year
hope you and yours have a peaceful festive season
and a great New Year!
stay safe
LB,
I think of the many both the unknown and the famous whose cries went unheard or unheeded. I am reminded of the words of the great, Theodore Geisel, “We can and we must do better than this.” Thank you for sharing this flickering of nature, this now spoken reminder that caring can make all the difference.
Amen!
wise words kind Poet
so glad you could connect with my simple words
it doesn't matter how long it takes
such subjects need to be voiced, so we never forget
Reminds me of Erin Pizzey's scream quietly, or the neighbours will hear .. a very important message woven throughout todays gift brother Mek and your authors note is so very apt at any time of year and always, sadly so very true
Neville
what a humbling comparison, 'if only'
Erin's words are the fruits of a lifetime of activism
I'm a mere wannabe poet, dear cherished friend
but still, I'll accept your encouraging words
just like all the supportive words, you've gifted me
all year long, knowing the kindness they stem from
thank you! Hyung
hope you and yours have a memorable festive season
and a fortuitous New Year!
🍻 cheers
Chilling and true. Looking back over my short time I see a withdrawal and isolation that was never there in the past. We have become estranged as humans. What nature has taken hundreds of thousands of years to create we are destroying, our own humanity and place as social beings. A chilling poem, Thanks for sharing it.
so very true, but
it's a universal truth of nature for destruction
to undo in mere seconds, what evolution
fought to accomplish in lifetimes...
still, we must fight the tide
as best we can
one gesture or action, at a time..
so glad you could get behind the message
kind Poet, thank you
hope you have a great festive season
and an even better New Year
stay safe
Lord, I was not expecting the undercurrent of this piece to be as serious as it was. But this is such a message. As a person who had suicidal thoughts myself I can say that you are truly doing justice to the "unnoticed" and "unspoken" that you're talking about in this poem. Thank you for giving a voice to the ones who feel like they have none.
I'm so sorry for your struggles, dear cherished Poet
thank you for your supportive words
hope you have a festive season and New Year's
that grant you a source of solace
and reward you for all your efforts to survive life's strife
while still finding strength enough
to ink words of encouragement for others
stay strong!
