Just A Kid

Karson Lidgerding

You were 5.

You were in kindergarten so excited…

Then they ignored you.

You were 8.

You made it to 2nd grade…

Just to become the target of bullying

No one likes you anyway.

You were 11.

5th grade… first year of middle school.

They stared… they pointed… They told you to lose weight.

You weren’t fat.

You were 13.

In 7th grade… the downhill battle.

You tried to kill yourself  too many times to count

No one wanted you around anyway.

You were 14.

8th grade…20 lbs down because that's what you were supposed to do…right?

In and out of the hospital because you felt worthless.

You were 16.

10th grade…. Sick of your parents.

Can’t stand to be here. Hating life and everyone around you.

Pushing through everyday hoping one day you’ll escape.

You were 18.

Dropped out of school…No money.

Working hard to survive.

Starving, working 50 hours a week.

You were 21.

Barely able to stand life anymore… you had nothing.

Living on the streets.

You were 25.

Holding your breath thinking everyday was your last.

You were 27.

You jumped… and this time it worked.

They rushed you to the hospital, but it was too late.

You were just a kid.

You were just a kid…

And they broke you.

And now you're gone because life just sucks.

I sit at your grave everyday.

No one noticed you.

But I did.

I loved you.

I never said it and now it’s too late.

I just watched it all happen.

We were just kids.
