Can’t go back
Born in Caracas
Went back 25 years on
There was nothing
No trace
Just a motorway;
I have lived in Prague
Went back
It looked the same
But it was not
People and life had moved on;
Worked in north London
Went back
I could not find the houses I worked in
People moved, life went on;
I lived in Bracknell
Went back years on
I got lost among new houses and motorways;
Is there a point in looking for the past?
Life moves on
Time goes on
If it is the same
It is a shrine
Stepping back is strange
Sometimes you can
Touch your past
Relive a moment,
But often
It just becomes part of mixed up memories.
Perhaps just move on with time
And make new memories.

Wow. Such a sense of loss amongst the poets today. I think many of us are picking up on the same thing. Thank you for writing your thoughts.
