Beware

water_lilly

Beware of those who call out to you in a whisper, they might be far, they might be near, they might just be the one sitting next to you my dear;

who tell you the sweetest of words and make promises to give you the world

They hold your hand gently and speak of a better place

Beware of them who you see with good intention

Who walk with many arms and legs and suddenly you’ve fallen into their web

Webs built of lies and deceit

Little child I warn you now beware

When you see them they might be big, they might be small, they might be kindest of them all

But when they take off that mask what’s left is a dragon who stares at you challengingly ready to eat you whole

Their words make your face turn sour after they’ve drawn you in

No more deceit is needed when they’ve got you pinned

You are now chained by them one wanting to go but another longs to stay

Like a boxer they have you in a choke hold but in this ring only they can win

They might play with you for a while give you all your dreams and more

Fill your sparkly eyes with something called hope

Give you treasures untold

But I tell you this once again for I have once lost one to them

Stay where your heart is for that world is fading and soon you’ll realize it was never there to begin with

Beware child
