a pair of purple vans

ixaminata

I had a pair of purple vans

And another with a light pink hue

We used to write up our plans

On those worn out sneakers

What did you do?

Did you prefer wearing converse to a concert?

Or were you a slides type of person?

I guess I shouldn’t be so curious

Your new girlfriend taught me that lesson

I listened to blues at a cross road

Then had to engage in small talk

Before we learned how to upload

We’d hopscotch all day

I always chose the red chalk

Were you like me, and waiting just for recess?

Or did you prefer a library?

Before you answer, she’s  back at your side, giving me the eye

As though I’m an adversary

I’m trying to move on

so I’ll stop my recollections

And live with your unrequited affections
