In the heart of apartments
Where beds hold sound sleepers,
Covers envelop them all
In yet smaller compartments—
Let’s go even deeper—
Are hearts housed within chest walls
Where the grief, disappointments,
And longings of dreamers
Lay forgotten, stored in vaults
Ornate layered arrangements—
Successive concealers,
Like a stack of nesting dolls
Remove outer encasements,
It’s okay to weep here,
Just let each tier gently fall
Yes, it’s time for displacement,
Shed light on the speaker
Give voice to the smallest doll
